It was discussed in another thread how many outsiders came to cause trouble. Here's a specific case:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...ornia-n1231187

"...Authorities said Carrillo and a second man traveled to Oakland with the intent to kill police and believed the large demonstrations spurred by the death of Floyd in Minneapolis — which they were not a part of — would help them get away it.

"They came to Oakland to kill cops," said John Bennett, special agent in charge of the San Francisco division of the FBI...."

"...The killing of Underwood set off a massive manhunt. Eight days later, officers showed up at Carrillo's home after they discovered an abandoned white van that belonged to him and contained ammunition, firearms and bomb-making equipment, authorities said.

Carrillo ambushed the officers, killing Santa Cruz County Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller and critically injuring another deputy, according to authorities...."

"...Carrillo, prior to his arrest, used his own blood to scrawl the word “boog” and “I became unreasonable” on the hood of the vehicle he carjacked, the complaint says. Both phrases are also associated with "Boogaloo," a term used by extremists to reference a violent uprising or impending civil war in the U.S., the complaint says..."

"...Carrillo wrote in a Facebook group on May 28 that the unrest is “on our coast now, this needs to be nationwide” and that “it’s a great opportunity to target the specialty soup bois."

In Boogaloo groups on Facebook and Reddit, “soup bois” is shorthand for government agencies that are abbreviated in acronyms like “alphabet soup" such as the FBI and ATF.

Online Boogaloo communities frequently post memes about targeting federal agencies in advance of another civil war.

In response to Carrillo’s message, the complaint alleges Justus wrote “let’s boogie,” another reference to the Boogaloo movement.

In Boogaloo Facebook groups, the complaint says, Carrillo was even more explicit about taking advantage of protests to stir up unrest and violence against police.

Go to the riots and support our own cause. Show them the real targets. Use their anger to fuel our fire. Think outside the box. We have mobs of angry people to use to our advantage,” Carillo wrote in one Facebook group, according to the complaint.

Carrillo believed that the Boogaloo, or second civil war, was “kicking off now and if its not kicking off in your hood then start it,” according to the complaint."..."

Hmm....could have sworn the first word I put in the title was "Outsiders..." Sorry I can't edit it now. *sigh* I'll ask a mod to fix it, as it now looks like I'm calling for people to come to Oakland for their own agenda. Dang.

Really?

Members of the Boogaloo movement have been coming to Oakland for years to kill cops?

I think they've only been around since 2017ish?

Have they been in Oakland before?

Because it's the first I heard of this group being there.

Outsiders in general. I hadn't heard of this group until recently. But as Oakland has been the home for a myriad of other protests: Occupy Wall Street, Oscar Grant, Ferguson, etc .....lots of outsider troublemakers showed up to destroy. They arrest people from Oregon and Texas and Tennessee....it is very strange. There are bands of roving on-demand professional protestors. Kinda like traveling nurses.

I think the title should be "Losers come to Oakland to use protests for their own grievances"

I guess it is common practice to bus in protesters from other areas...afterall, it happens in DC all the time.

I have relatives in California, but not in Oakland. Boogaloos have been arrested in Nevada and Texas too recently. I guess what's different about them is they want to kill cops/take down the government and are hiding behind these other protests (re-opening, floyd).

Do you know if these professional protestors from elsewhere (that you speak of) were actually, well, for lack of a better term, "believers" in the cause, or did they have another agenda? I think most abhor any violence and support peaceful protest, but it really pisses me off when some group is using a protest strictly to inflame, murder, etc and have it blamed on another cause.

I think that there may be a few professionals that care about the cause. The others are "protesters" in name only. They just look for a protest to cover their desire to stir up trouble. And they travel to wherever there will be sufficient cover.

I've been annoyed with the ANTIFA types for years for this exact reason.

Personally I think the current protests need to end now since nothing more can come of it. All that's left now is people treating it like a day out and giving cover to the people who want to take advantage of it for their own purposes. We can't just slap a label on them and pretend it's some group or movement either, some are straight up deranged individuals, some get so caught up and mob mentality takes over their brains, some are just opportunistic criminals, and NONE of them care about any cause. We've also entered into a space where hating and targeting cops is the new cool thing for ordinary people to do and cops know this. At the same time people are pushing the narrative that cops are slaughtering black people in the streets for no reason whatsoever. And every politician is using this even to bolster themselves and overreact to everything to the point of ridiculousness.

We created a powder keg and are now dancing around it with lit matches. Anyone who doesn't walk away is culpable for whatever tragedies happen going forward.

Was antifa involved? Link? I keep trying to find arrests of antifa in the news, but there aren't any...there's news stories that say antifa were arrested, but no where do they offer proof...no facebook pages or any social media, so I'm not trusting those stories. (Such is the world we live in now.)

The OP is about booglaboo....a far-right group, and the men posted all sorts of things before they went out shooting cops. And their arrests were posted on many different news org sites.
