Hello all,

My family just moved to Brentwood. I understand that its a quiet suburb on the outskirts of the Bay Area. I was wondering what kind of recreational activities there are in the area? From what I gather, theres a farmer's market, hiking trails, and a couple of bars just like anywhere else in the Bay Area. I have heard that the unique aspect about the area is the Delta. But, until I can afford a boat and make friends that want to party on it in the area, I have to find other things to do.

Anyone have any ideas of for recreation in East Contra Costa county?

Oakley has a marina. They have kayak rentals, but the facility is closed due to the pandemic. You could launch your own, but good luck finding one for sale! Kayaks and bicycles have been all but sold out this entire summer.

I enjoy kayaking in Oakley.
There is a nice little swimming beach about a 100-150 yards from the marina that is fun to kayak to.
There is also some good fishing there.
I would not eat the catfish there.
They do not taste good.

We own 3 kayaks.
One is really nice and then there are the 2 Walmart ones that we loan out to our friends.
The cheap ones are just fine for goofing around with.
They were like $300.
Nothing special but they work fine.
Definitely fun.
