Hello, I recently received an offer for a job in South San Francisco, and I was curious if anyone could provide me some info on the city (zip code 94080). I'm admittedly a germaphobe, so honestly, when I hear San Francisco (having visited the main city itself a few times over the years), I can't help but think of San Francisco City and the issues it has with homelessness, defecation in the streets, the used needles in the streets, and other issues with trash. Given how relatively close South San Francisco is to San Francisco City, I was wondering how South San Francisco is in terms of cleanliness (such as the downtown South San Francisco area) and whether the homelessness is as much of an issue in South San Francisco. I apologize if I am sounding rude, but I just want a straightforward answer about how South San Francisco is as an area overall. I'm not interested in having a night life, so I am fully willing to forgo the city life for a more quiet, "cleanly" area to live in, also weather is not a concern for me at all.

Somebody's been watching Fox News again.

Assuming this is a real post, no, there's nothing wrong with South San Francisco. It's a suburb that doesn't even touch San Francisco city proper. The only thing it shares is part of a name.

South San Francisco is a nice town - quiet yet close to SF with BART and freeway access. There are tons of ethnic restaurants and parks nearby. I see few homeless - definitely worthwhile living there assuming you have the budget.

Go for it. You will like it, and hopefully will get over your homeless phobia.

You will love to be so close to SF.

Cheers!
