Any thoughts about that?

How do you figure that they are more diverse? According to the Fremont City Profile (2018), "Fremont is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse cities in the Bay Area. "

https://fremont.gov/184/Demographics

Distribution by Ethnicity & Race

• Asian............................................. ..........50%
• White............................................. ..........33%
• Hispanic.......................................... .........14%
• Black/African American...............................3%

Another website says the largest percentage of Arabs anywhere near Newark is in Millbrae (on the Peninsula) , and that's 20,334 people, or 3.18% of the population. Fremont has 33,863 Arabs, or 1.28% of population.
(I am not permitted to link to the website as it competes with City-Data.)

What is your ethnicity and/or what is it that you are actually looking for besides dancing around the "diverse" moniker?

No need to go to Menlo Park? Really? Hmmm.

Kepler's Books is in Menlo Park, along with Café Borrone next door and Santa Cruz Avenue running eastwards, with all its eateries, is a very nice place to stroll and dine. There used to be (maybe still is) a Swiss restaurant on Santa Cruz Ave in Menlo Park. How often do you find Swiss?

Left Bank Brasserie is on Santa Cruz Avenue, now including Skewery by Meso (Kebabs, etc.)

There are at least 10 other restaurants right in the same vicinity.

And, of course, Menlo Park is home to one of four Draeger Grocery stores.

Thank you. I love Menlo Park. Even if it might be smaller than what the OP is looking for, it has plenty to offer. IMO she should visit all the locations mentioned on the Peninsula, before deciding. And now I have some new spots to check out in MP thanks to this post.

When I went to Palo Alto's restaurant row, I was underwhelmed. But to each their own; only the OP can make this call, and a good call can only be made after a visit.

Good luck, OP! Let us know where you finally settle, and how it works out for you.

As long as you don't mind crossing the bay, maybe Mountain View would be a good fit in terms of nightlife and possibly diversity.

If by diverse you mean having White, Asian, and black and Latino, the closest you'll get is Redwood City and San Mateo, both have 1/4 I think or so Latino population. Nowhere on the peninsula or Silicon Valley will have that high a black population (the black population has been declining in the Bay Area generally for a number of years).

RC and SM both have downtowns, SM probably the bigger one. Personally I still wouldn't do the commute, but yes I can see SM and RC being a bit more fun with walkable downtown and a little bit more restaurants and bars clustered together.
