My husband and I recently purchased a home in Danville and are moving from LA with our 3-month-old daughter in February. I plan to return to work in May-June and hope to start the little one in daycare a little before that time to ease into the transition. I’ve been researching for a few weeks now, and have a general idea of what’s available in the area, but wanted to hear any recommendations or other inside information from those on the ground up there.

She’ll be 6-7 months by the time she starts, likely part time, but would consider full time if that’s all that’s available. Husband will be working 12 hour shifts, so I’ll be doing the majority of pickups, but have no idea where I’ll be working. I’ll eventually need to take into consideration which direction I’ll be going, but am open to anywhere in that general tri valley area. Budget is up to $2500 a month, as we may need extended care some days (work in healthcare and anticipate having to work some occasional late clinics). Also considering a nanny that would bump up our budget, but would like to give daycare a look first.

I live in Danville and you have to look to see what the minimum age is for accepting kids. When we looked, several daycares, such as Montessori and Acorn required the kids to be 18-24 months.

I've heard good things about Bright Horizons, which is located in Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. Its a few mile drive, but its a quality daycare and I believe they accept younger kids.

Good luck!
