Here's some data for those people: last year 1/3 of murders in the Houston area (so over 100 homicides) were committed by someone who was let out on bail after committing a violent crime. Perhaps if there were harsher penalties and tougher bail for committing violent crimes, these folks wouldn't have been let out on the streets to commit more crimes. I used Houston as an example, but this same thing is happening in California (Houston and other cities like it have been following CA's lead here).

Reading the articles posted on the last page, they're basically advocating for no prison time at all for anything. Straight quote:

You've got to be kidding me...
Interesting.

I feel safe walking around my area (The Woodlands) at night, and my GF’s general area at night (bound roughly by Clay Rd, Barker Cypress, West Rd, and Eldridge), but there are some areas of Houston where I wouldn’t drive on surface streets at night.

This just in.

Sheriff’s deputy on the run after killing two in their home, police say

DUBLIN, Calif. (KRON) – An Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy is on the run and should be considered “armed and dangerous” after he allegedly shot two people early this morning, according to Dublin police.

Anyone who sees Sheriff’s Deputy Devin Williams Jr. is urged to call 911 immediately.

A man and woman were shot inside their home on Colebrook Lane. Someone called 911 at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday and told emergency dispatchers that the gunman fled in a vehicle. The homicide victims died at the crime scene.

“Witnesses on scene identified the shooter as 24-year-old Devin Williams Jr.,” the Dublin Police Department wrote. Police officers quickly realized that Williams works as a deputy for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, which is headquartered in Dublin.

Cop is black, victims most likely Asian, as that area is over 70% Asian, mostly Indian (and some Chinese) tech workers who live there and commute to the South Bay. About 2% or less of the local population is black.

If 70% of the community is Asian, why do you think the victims were? He apparently knew the victims:

The names of the two killed have not been released. They were among six people in the house at the time of the killings, including a relative from out of town who made the call to 911, Kelly said. The couple and Williams knew each other, though details on a motive were sparse Wednesday morning.
“He knew them — this was not a random crime,” Kelly said. “This was a very bizarre chain of events that unfolded.” https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/09/...pwHI2buw5QGaoQ

Just playing the odds.

The allegation is he was having an affair with the wife and murdered her and her husband.

He was on Stockton PD, but failed the 1-year probationary period, quit and was hired by the Alameda County Sheriff Dept. in September 2021.

He surrendered to the CHP near Coalinga.

He was a cop at Stockton PD for one year, failed his probation, and quit.
Then he was a cop for Alameda County Sheriff Dept. for one year and murdered two people.

I think maybe he's not cut out for the job. It would be interesting to read about his background.

Well, if I may venture an opinion, this almost sounds like someone who take a job for easy access to victims. How did that affair start? Maybe he's been trying for a cop job to give him respectability or authority, perhaps the trust of certain types of people...

80.3% Asian in Dublin. The victims have the last name of Tran, which is Vietnamese.

Where did you read that allegation? Not saying it isn't true, just want to read it myself. Do you have a link?

It was reported that the wife who was murdered was significantly younger than her husband (16 years younger than her husband) and she was only 8 years older than the murderer).

It was reported that he was "let go," not that he quit after failing probation.
