Restaurant and private members lounge to be built controversially in San Francisco's 'public' Salesforce Park

In a terrifying J.G. Ballard-like dystopian metaphor come to life, the private lounge, which will charge a top-tier membership fee of $300,000 a pop (yes, really, more on that later), will be situated 70 feet above surrounding homeless encampments.

What’s ‘dystopian’ (or hilarious) about a public restaurant with a private members lounge? How is it any different than (currently existing) exclusive/private lounges throughout the world in large cities and airports?

Seriously? Pay a $300,000 *membership* fee to eat perched 70 feet above homeless encampments?
Surely you jest … or you didn’t read the article.

I didn’t need to read (nor have interest in) the article; the restaurant is planned to be public (and membership fees presumably tiered relative to the private lounge). Point being, it’s no different than private clubs/lounges in large cities/airports around the world i.e. it’s not a new concept nor unique to SF - anymore than homelessness or poverty.

It's pretty amusing and perfect for San Francisco honestly. What the hell is a "NFT-based hospitality club"?

Does this remind you of the Titanic, where it was the passengers in the expensive staterooms that got the lifeboats, whereas some of the folks in steerage remained trapped below decks, while others were beaten away from the lifeboats?

Yeah it is different. Paying that kind of money - or NFTs - to eat over top of homeless camps takes *private clubbing* to new heights.

I know what NFT's are, or at least stands for lol. Digital art in a way I guess? I'm just trying to wrap my head around how a club is based around one. Or maybe I have no idea what an NFT actually is. I've just heard of them as referenced to digital art or whatever.
