You might want to try visiting first. It's not like the entire bay area is drowning in gays, any more then NYC or Boston. But generally they are more accepted in SF than you would see on the east coast, so it's not as hidden.

It depends on your definition of "regular" too. You might meet "regular" people who will judge you on something else... your income, the car you drive, clothes you wear, etc. Some people get fired because they don't like the same sports team as their boss.

Nothing wrong with picking your friends, but any major city will have foreigners, nerds, sports fans, hipsters, hippies, yuppies, slackers, urban rednecks, millionaires, different races and personalities, metro straight guys who confuse everyone, and truck-driving lesbians who do curls with cinder blocks. If you don't want to mingle, just find the ones you want to hang with and ignore the others

I could say more, but the other responses sum it up pretty well. It's really an "east vs. west" thing. Having lived on both coasts, I'll say you may be in for a major culture shock.

LOL. The Lone Star does have quite a few in Austin, Houston, Dallas, etc.

The "metro" trend is noticeable in many cities, not just SF. Personally I'm more of a T-shirt and jeans guy

Like is more guys gay then not? Young people I mean (under 35).
Hopefully this is not a reflection of how you actually express yourself. Gay or Straight - in SF, you will have a difficult time getting anyone to take you seriously.

Actually, SF is more gay than any other city in the U.S. perhaps in all of North America.

That would be nice but there are a high number of gay women here too. So it evens out.

Just like the rest of us, gay/bi people come in all personalities and forms.
I agree 100%. I have tried to pick up on some very beautiful gay women by accident.

Actually I approached these two beautiful French women in downtown SF who turned out to be lovers. One ended up being my close friend who I have visited in France a couple of times. They have since broken up. I figure my friend once had a boyfriend so I may have a chance. :-)
