And just what have you done to make it better? It's easy to complain. Try doing your part, if we all do that...imagine a great city.

They didn't run from Hitler, didn't run from communism. So why are you running from gangs?

i live in salinas, and i dont think its bad at all. There are gang issues but there mostly on the east side. i like it here, and me and my mothers daily life is not affected by gangs at all. my mother is an lvn at a clinic. Salinas doesnt really have a downtown area. The south side and north side are ok places. Stay away from the East side. Salinas is nice, and i dont see why people are scared of it. I also like that salinas is so close to monterey, and santa cruz, and san francisco. its a pretty good location. idk. im 16 and thats my view.

Well, compared to Fresno, I think anywhere is a step up. Listen to the folks that are saying to stay away from Salinas. I know lots of people that have told us not to move there. My cousin used to work in SJ regional, and he said lots of their trauma victims came from Salinas. We drove around there, and it's very Hispanic. Not to say Hispanic are criminals, but generally ethnic communities tend to have higher crime rates. Also, it's a ****ty place in general. You're basically stuck in the middle of nowhere and in a desert. I like rural areas, but that place sucks. You're better off living in Monterey.

Monterey is pretty alright. I'm living out here now and so far, I like it.

Default Nice

Not a very good student of geography Miliani. I guess that's not taught in the Fresno school system. How could the Salad bowl of the world exist in a desert?

I loved growing up in Salinas in the 70's-80's. Moved away when I started college and settled elsewhere. I visit my family once or twice a year and the changes are sad to see. They just got back from a trip only to find that their home was broken into. I suspect it was neighbors. Sad, sad, sad. It's no longer the safe place I grew up in. Glad to be gone and not a place that I'd ever live. This is merely my opinion, and I'm certain there's a lot of good there as well.
