I'm wondering what life is like in Benicia, because I'm considering moving there.

Can anyone provide an opinion, either positive or negative?

Thanks.

Is it because of the refineries? We are moving there and this is the first time I have heard it is polluted!! Have you lived there? I appreciate any information. Thanks

it isn't polluted. benicia is a great town to live in; i've been here for over 12 years and counting. the people are nice, the schools are great and there's really nothing to complain about.

So are there a lot of things to do in Benicia (cultural activities, restuarants, movies, etc) or do you generally have to leave Benicia to do those things?

Thanks

prior to making a sizable investment in Benicia, do some EPA research on superfund sites. Refineries have been "doing business" there for decades and despite the outward appearance Californians like to convey about their environmental concerns, the town has been the victim of corporate polluters (Oil giants) for decades.

Look beyond the trees and the cute coffee shop on main street.

and, a 4 of 4 (4 being the highest and worst) on Sperling's violent crime index. 3 for property crime. (a trend toward trashiness evident by the condition of many of the residential properties, as well as store fronts). The place just looks shabby....

My sister lived there for years and I know people who've lived there. Its one of the nicer cities in the East Bay - much better than places line Antioch, Pittsburg, Vallejo and Pinole. More upscale, better schools, less riff-raff.
