I just wanted to know if it's a reasonable commute or not. I think there are tolls that you have to pay for daily but I wasn't sure. Thanks

Can I please get some help on this. I am trying to figure out if the commute is worth living in Walnut Creek. Some people say its 10 min but I thought it was much more than that. Also the toll that you have to pay every day. Thanks

Mapquest is estimating a travel time of 25 minutes to cover the 20-mile distance.

HTH!

25 minutes is about average unless there is an accident and going over the Benicia bridge daily can get expensive. Not to mention the winter weather driving. The traffic going home on a friday before a holiday weekend is bad too - if you havent started by noon on Friday, it will take you over an hour easy. Good luck!

If you live in Walnut creek, most of your neighbors will be commuting to the city. You won't be going against commute traffic exactly but you're certainly not going to be in the worst part of the East Bay commutes. Should be a fairly easy commute comparatively.

The toll on the Benicia bridge is currently $4.00 Northbound. It's free on the way back. There is a discount for fast track customers but you'd have to check with the Bay Area Toll Authority to be sure. If you carpool, it's free in the diamond lane! Any passenger car with 3 people is free, if it's a two-seater with two people, it's free, and of course motorcycles are free. Remember that's only during commute hours, when traveling any other time, even carpools have to pay the full toll.

In the Bay Area you could definitely have a much worse commute. I ride a motorcycle for the most part. Since lane splitting is legal in CA, traffic isn't a huge concern for me so hopefully a cager (car driver) will be able to help you more than me. Good luck.

Go to FasTrak.com and get information on the bridge toll transponder and the bridge fees. They also have this information at Safeway and you can get a refill on the transponder there. I commuted across Carquinez Bridge for 9 years and I love this feature. No long lines to wait in..... I just zipped thru. I kept it when I retired and use it now all over the Bay Area Bridges. The new Benicia Bridge is wonderful coming west now in the evenings.

I don't think too bad, but honestly, I would look at Benicia, Ca to live. So close to Vallejo without bridges and then when you want to zip into Walnut Creek (which I do all of the time) you do it on your own time. I have been stuck in some pretty bad traffic on that commute yet somedays it has been fine. I personally wouldn't chose to do that with the bridge ect...Look at the town and locale of Benicia. I love it. You can read my last post on this.
