Hi everyone,

I'm from out of town, and I've located an ideal apartment complex at 707 Leahy Square in Redwood City, and I'm wondering if that's a decent part of town. I'm not looking for something that rivals Malibu -- I'm interested in this place because it's relatively inexpensive and offers month-to-month leasing. This is important for me because I'm relocating for a temp-to-hire job and won't know for a while what my permanent situation will be.

All I really need to know is that this place isn't dangerous. I'm also going to be using the Caltrain to commute to Palo Alto -- the stop is a little far from the apartment. What are the parking/biking accommodations like at the Caltrain stations?

Thanks so much for all your help!

Leahy Square is in a good area on the border with Atherton (aka zillionaire land). It is also right on the other side from El Camino Real from the most slummish part of Redwood City, but I still preferred to go to the Target on that side of town instead of the Safeway at Sequoia Station because I felt safer there.

The Atherton Caltrain station would probably be closer. There is little or no parking at either Redwood City or Atherton Caltrain stations. They do have have bike racks and/or lockers at the stations. You can take a bike on the train (end car), however they are starting to crack down on this because too many people want to bring bikes on the train and there is not enough room.

The Leahy Sq. area is fairly decent.

The trains only stop in Atherton on the weekend. The rest of the week they just blow right through. RWC on the other hand is a baby bullet stop so it's easy to go either north or south.
