There used to be a place right in the heart of downtown called Yank Sing, a great dim sum restaurant. I think they're still around, but am sure that they switched locations.

Yank Sing has two locations, one in Rincon Center (Spear and Mission) and the second on Stevenson (between 1st and 2nd Street).

Default Bakery

I love this place. Everyone else eats the egg custard. I eat everything but that.

Enjoy!

I second this, but not for the burritos. (I'm not a huge fan of Mission burritos anyway.) Go for the flour quesadilla with chicken. They just closed their San Jose location, too, which is the biggest shame in the world, but in the South Bay there's the Erik's Deli chain. Try the Abbot's Habit sandwich.

La Taqueria was amazing! The burritos were of only the highest level, and cut no corner when it came to size.

^^ A pic of the infamous burrito, lol.

Funny thing is, their burritos are slightly smaller compared to other taquerias like Cancun or Taqueria San Jose or El Farolito. But when you go back, order that quesadilla. You won't understand other quesadillas thereafter.

If you're staying in the Tenderloin, I'd suggest Shalimar for Indian (532 Jones) and Dottie's for brunch (522 Jones)!

Man I love that sandwich! Pretty much any other sandwich I've had there has been so so at best, but the Abbot's Habit is definitely worth going there for.
