Hi everyone. I was just curious to know what cities I should probably avoid when I move up there. Currently I'm looking at Marin County (San Rafael mainly) for a place to live and it seems pretty decent. A little about me, I'm an outgoing easy going 28 male who doesn't do any drugs but enjoys some nightlife on the weekends. I've grown up in Orange County and so the beach is something I love, but I also enjoy some easy mountain biking.

Your post is kind of vague. San Rafael would be a nice place to live except for a few areas such as the canal district. Will your job be in this area? What do you want to check out? What interests you?
As for mountain biking in Marin county, there is Mt. Tamalpais state park

For the nightlife, I would check out SOMA, North Beach, and the Marina... possibly Lower-Haight and Haight-Ashbury as well. The thing about San Francisco is that there are so many different neighborhoods that are drastically different from each other, see which one appeals to you, but make sure to sample them all because they are all great neighborhoods.

I'll be moving to Novato California. I'm interested in some kind of nightlife, whether that's a dive bar, a pool house or a nice lounge bar. I'm just trying to see what would be in the area so that I would have the opportunity to be social and meet new people in a fun environment.
