I dined there about a month ago and was able to get a last night Saturday evening reservation (@8pm) due to a cancellation.

I don't know why you'd purposely seek out an expensive restaurant. SF has plenty of great, expensive and non-expensive places. At the very least you'd say money doesn't matter, not that you'd prefer it to be expensive.

Zuni cafe is where I take friends when they visit the city, and they love it. Esp the popular roast chicken and bread salad.

Slanted Door, but you better hurry and make reservations. Gary Danko is so overpriced. You ready to shell out 300 for two people?

If it is worth it. The most I've paid for two was over $500 (including wine and drinks) and it was worth every penny - best meal I ever had.

No meal is worth $250 per person. Even if I was a millionaire. What could they possibly do to make it cost that much? Nice waiters?

Some would say that no painting is worth $140 million, or that no baseball card is worth $2.35 million, but in both cases someone thought otherwise.

My little luxury meal pales in comparison. Total of eight courses spread over three or so hours, each one paired with a high-end wine, each one an example of the best of the best. Marinus at Bernardus Lodge, Carmel Valley. Highly recommended at least once.

True, but at least with a painting you can look at it forever and it appreciates in value, same with the rare baseball card. But food is gone after a few hours and you're left hungry the next day.
