I'm watching the news right now (Channel 7), and things are getting violent in Oakland... started with a peaceful protest over the BART shooting, and now it has gotten really nasty. I really hope things settle down, and everyone lets justice run its course peacefully.

Damn... they attacked the Channel 7 reporter! Luckily he's okay, aside from a smashed camera and cut face.

I was actually expecting this to happen. I was shocked that it hadn't happened. But it has....

If you think this is bad, just wait until if/when this cop is cleared on all charges.

Once again the Oakland Community is victim and scapegoat...

Oakland Police, Public Officials, Citizens and Business had nothing to do with the tragic BART shooting... yet we are all paying the price... how sad is that?

Whoa.

I was RIGHT there, unexpectedly. Was going over to a friend's at 12th & Jackson, and as we got into downtown Oakland we noticed cops all over in riot gear.. went up to my friend's 5th floor apartment and watched the news, where a car was burning on the other side of the building.

Totally justifiable rage but it's counter productive when people just start smashing and burning randomly. Should've focused the anger on police targets.

They continue to riot even though BART has created some oversight and the guy is in jail.

Is their goal to try to make the people who get on the jury feel that if they don't vote him guilty, then all of Oakland will burn?

What else is the purpose of continually terrorizing the people of Oakland?

There is no such thing as a peaceful protest these days. Because there is always a criminal element with a mob mentality ready to ruin a peaceful protest.

I personally think the cops are too lenient with the terror-protesters. I believe if you (the cops) let the "security detail" handle the rogue terrorists instead of doing your job and protecting people from these destructive protesters, then you are asking for trouble.

People who destroy others property and terrorize other citizens and then blame it on "injustice" don't care about security details or keeping the peace.

And they certainly don't care about Oscar Grant and what this is doing to his family.
