Do you want to stay at a lower rate hotel at a big tourist trap? then you are in the right place!
I've never stayed there, but did go to a cattle call audition in their 'meeting rooms' pretty generic place, have no idea what the rooms are like, I'd guess it's just as pedestrian as the rest of the hotel.
I'd recommend someplace in a different neighborhood. Fisherman's Wharf is the furthest from SFO, so be aware of that cab ride time & price.

This is a great location. You are only a couple of blocks from the water plus you can easily walk to or ride the 30 bus to many places like North Beach,Chinatown or the Palace of Fine Arts.

There is nothing around the airport area hotel you mentioned. Only choose that if you think you will be too tired after the flight to drive into the city.

I wouldn't hesitate staying at that hotel !! But it is a walk to the Wharf; if I remember correctly.... maybe 5 blocks (?) Some years back, I ate a fabulous meal at the Italian restaurant which was located there, but I don't know if that restaurant is the same now !

As a newcomer..... be aware of the street beggars !

It's a Kimpton Hotel (www.kimptonhotel.com) so you can expect a bit more than the usual Best Western. You should be very satisfied.

The Best Western looks better...but what are you wanting from either of these exactly?
Better room? They are both basically in the same spot...so if it's a location you are concerned about it's pretty much 6 to half a dozen.

That area may seem boring to you, but it's safe. That should be the only priority.
