If the city you currently live in didn't exist, where in the east bay would you live, and why?

Walnut Creek or Orinda, I like those two better than where I am now.

Alamo for the beautiful homes and decent proximity to SF

Lafayette. It's small vibrant downtown is walkable and accessable. And one of my favorite quilt stores is there -- Cotton Patch. It's got TWO great coffee shops -- the Squirrels and Millies. It's got a Safeway and a Trader Joes.

But it is EXPENSIVE.....

All of the above cities are great, but they are all VERY expensive. I would say Hayward, though I'm biased since that's where I'm from. Or perhaps the 2 cities on either side of it, San Leandro and Union City.

If Berkeley didn't exist I would move back to San Francisco or go up to the mountains. I like it up there and it's cheaper to live. Berkeley is the only city in the east bay I want to live in and that fits my lifestyle.

We don't like to talk like that in the Bay Area in terms of cities no longer existing....earthquakes you know. hehe.

I would choose Walnut Creek without a doubt. Especially if you work in the City (Oakland or SF) it is so nice to leave the chaos of the city and go home to such a quiet and peaceful community. Also the summers are nice and warm out there, something that lacks in the city or closer to the bay. Plus all your shopping needs are right there, and the parks are gorgeous.

Anywhere in Lamorinda. The schools are top in the state, the weather is pleasant, and it's beautiful. Very expensive though. Assuming you can afford it, it's the BEST!
