I live in Maryland and I love our state. There are many good neighborhoods here...many good people. We have some of the best hospitals in the country/world here. A good police force in the counties (Baltimore city not so much). Does our state have problems? Of course we do, but what state doesn't have problems? For the most part, we have good roads, highways, schools. We have the atlantic ocean to the east and the mountains to the west. If you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it'll change. We have affordable housing and the job market here doesn't suck too bad.

Maryland is a pretty cool place to live, HON!

Certainly, MD is superior to CA right now, based on a number of indicators. People are voting with their feet and pocketbooks in a way that favors MD more than CA at present. It is what it is. The stats don't lie.

you are kidding, right. Baltimore Washington on I-95 have traffic every bit as bad as the Bay Bridge. The cost of living is lower because salaries are lower.
I'd live in San Francisco and day over Maryland

Be that as it may, right now, MD's economy vastly out paces CA's, on a per capita basis. Again, the stats don't lie.

A particularly sobering stat is the recent "expanded unemployment" metric in the NYT. CA is among the worst 5 states.

I think that Walnut Creek & Lafayette are nice areas to live in.
