Im moving to the Bay Area and will be working in Emeryville .
I'm considering living in the city and driving to work.

What should be the areas that I should be looking at so that the commute is relatively easy?
What are the average commute times on the Bay Bridge? I know commute times are crazy but Im looking for some advice.

I'm ok with living with room mates and would also like to be near the night life if at possible.
Thanks

You could look near the baseball park for housing with room mates, but the Bay Bridge commute would be reverse for you -- more people going in to SF than out in the AM in other words.... so your commute wouldn't be too bad... just remember the Bay Bridge is under construction, too... and on occasion you might want to take BART. A lot of companies run shuttles from a BART station to work, and there is an Emeryville free shuttle from BART to various work places.

Default Lived this for one year

I worked in Emeryville and lived in SF. It really will depend on your budget.

The best places to live are in South Beach/SOMA areas. Anything on Embarcadero and/or near the Giants Base Ball Stadium. Quick access to the Bay Bridge from here.

Morning commute from SF to Emeryville is easy. Use caution on the way home. Traffic has become a problem and bridge construction is frequent. It is really bad on Thursday's and Fridays. Try and leave work before 5:00pm on the way home or, after 7:00pm. Fridays and Saturdays are also heavy.

My morning commute was never more then 15 minutes door to door and coming home not usualy more then 45 minutes. Not a bad run over-all.

Default It's easy...you have the reverse commute...but then there's the bridge construction.

Now BART would be the easiest but depends on where work is? But Emeryville is very affordable, they have free shuttles for residence to all major stops. Pixar is great and the pharmaceuticals companys are power players in the comunity. On a good day 20-25 minutes and on a real bad day...45-1hour. So any neighborhood where BART is a 10-15 min walk is a good thing. my website http://eastbayca.com or caldecott.com
