This would be during day time hours. For someone walking from the amtrak station bus stop by the ferry building to either Hotel Vitale or half moon bay inn and either one of those hotels to AT and T park?

Considering going to a Giants game next year and will be traveling alone. I LOVE to walk but wondering how safe I would be or if it's better to take the bus.

Keep yourself armed with plenty of pocket change.

You will need it to survive the guantlet of beggars on your walk.

If you give each person that asks you for money at least 50 cents a piece, I'd suggest bringing around $28.50 worth of coins.

Good Luck!

You have to be aware wherever you walk in san francisco. Just use your common sense, make eye contact with suspicious folks and have a great time. During the non-game times, I would be more leary of walking around arbitrarily in that area of town. If you're going to a game, there will be other people walking too...you should be just fine.

I'd recommend going up King and The Embarcadero rather than going up a numbered street to Harrison.

You might be surrounded by a bunch of BMW drivers who live in the residential towers that dot the area, or, heaven forbid, accosted by junior stock brokers on their way to Gordon Biersch!

I walk between the Ferry Building and AT&T park on a semi-regular basis during baseball season and have never once been hit on for change. And that is an excellent little walk.

Yeah, I was going to walk down The Embarcadero.

I was on google maps looking at pictures of the route and I'm guessing with pics I saw of people jogging and women pushing their babies in strollers it must not be bad.

But do taxi cabs go by the ferry building? Probably a stupid question but you're talking to mr small town here.

Sure, taxis will take you anywhere. Plus Muni trains go direct from the Ferry Building to the ballpark. Even touristy bike-based-people-haulers (whatever they call those things) will take you. But really, it is an excellent little walk, very safe. Even after late-night games, on the walk back you will be hanging with hundreds (if not more) people doing exactly the same thing. Do it all the time.
