Hey all,

I may possibly be moving to San Francisco this summer to start a full time job. Can anyone recommend some fairly affordable towns around SF if one is looking for a small apartment to live in a decent neighborhood. I'm not opposed to the idea of splitting rent with a roommate either if such an opportunity should arise. Any recommendations/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When you say "around" SF, do you mean outside of the actual city?? If so, you should look in the East Bay, like Oakland (certain parts), Alameda, Dublin, Concord, and so on. You might also find something on the north Peninsula, in the towns of San Bruno, Daly City, South San Francisco, or Brisbane. In the city itself, there's no such thing as affordable, LOL... but with a roommate it's certainly possible, and you could look in places like Mission district, Sunset, Excelsior, Ingleside, or maybe SoMa (South of Market). I'm in-between Visitacion Valley & Bayview, which some people consider "bad", but I actually love it here... just avoid anything near Sunnydale drive, or right IN Bayview itself.

Thanks! Yeah, I meant the area around the city, the metro area. I'll give all of those areas a look.
