Is there such thing as county tax, if I live and work in pleasanton area? I know I will be paying federal + CA STATE tax but is there additional county tax deducted from employee's paycheck for counties? Just want to make sure.

Thanks

It sounds like what you are asking is, "Is there any City/County Income tax?"

In California, I don't believe there is any municipality that has an income tax. I don't believe state law allows it. However, I'm not absolutely sure about that.

Property taxes and a state sales tax adder vary at the county level. So yes, some counties have different overall tax burdens than others.

I believe that there is an employer payroll tax applicable for employers located in the City of San Francisco, but as far as I know, there are no local employee payroll taxes in California.
