Predictable. Almost no true ethnic places on the list, lots of watered down, cookie cutter type places (I mean, like Yank Sing? Oh brother ...). Not saying they are bad, but look at the clientelle and you'll know that they are not authentic. Not complaining however ... it means no lines out the door at my favorite places.

Most of the places that were local favorites as well ranked high on my list are closed due to the recession.

this seems to happen all too frequently even without recessions. The really good, local places seem to have a tough time.

You find Yank Sing to be watered down, or a cookie cutter type place?? I don't know about you, but I've never been to another dim sum spot that was even remotely like Yank Sing, and I think the food there is amazing! Unorthodox for a dim sum restaurant maybe, but far from common or watered down IMO.

Much of the rest of the list I might agree with you on tho.
