The only people I know who were born and raised in San Francisco, and still live there, are all of Asian descent.. no, they are not snobs. Couldn't be further from the reality. Manhattan's natives are much more snobbish and self-centered imo.

I lived in Manhattan for a while, yes there are a lot of snobs, but I think it is less obvious there. Here in California with all of the fancy cars, big houses and lack of toughness by middle/lower class, snobs are more open.

In NYC, if you act snobby to the wrong person you will get told off. I see some very open snobbishness here, that goes unchecked.

In OC, being a snob is accepted, and everyone is trying to be like the snobs.

I know this is a blunt statement but am I wrong? Prove it.
I dunno', ask someone living in the Tenderloin.

If SF is the capital of snobs and the OP challenges to be proven wrong, I thought the Tenderloin might be a good jumping off point. (No pun intended. I saw the movie The Bridge and have a whole new appreciation for references to "jumping off" in relation to San Francisco. Not funny. No joke.) If in the Tenderloin a snob cannot be found, I figure it should bring the average for snobs in SF down sufficiently enough to earn another locale the title, snob capital (or whatever it was). My guess would be south Orange County.

Jumping off a bridge... I used the term "jumping off" and in all seriousness did not intend it as a subtext or joke since this conversation is about San Francisco.

The OP did not say exclude the Tenderloin. It's in San Francisco. It's fair game. No changing the rules now.
