Grew up in San Francisco, went to school at Cal Poly - SLO, got first job in the OC. Then moved to Seattle for a job (Boeing).

I love it up here in Puget Sound, But looking to move back to SF Bay Area because I miss my family. Mostly because my wife and I are having our first child in a few months and find it important for him/her to really get to know their grandparents. Something I never really got to experience.

So basically, I'm really out of it. I know SF is expensive, compared to Puget Sound. We bought a home up here and would probably need to sell in order to move back.

Anywhere in the Bay Area is fine, just as long as it's a short drive back to SF. It's gotta be safe (and I know that's relatively speaking as well). I'd like to buy a home, perhaps a foreclosure or something affordable (also relative).

So I'm just thinking...

Anyone else in the same boat as me?

Not quite but I am looking forward to moving to the Bay Area in a couple of years. I'm single and in the IT sector and while Houston has been GREAT as far my career (Oil and Gas), I'm quite bored. I'm 25 and all of my friends are atlest 7 years older than me with kids. I just want to have a couple of years of fun before settling down. I also want to see if I can become a successful DJ.

I hear ya. I'm 30, and all most coworkers all graduated HS when I was born, and their kids are just graduating HS now. So yeah, I'm bored too, at least in the work environment, but outside of that I can keep myself occupied.

But I do miss CA for all it has to offer, and especially my family and extended family. On the other side, if I could move my family to WA that would be great too, but not realistic.

I went to Cal Poly and grew up in the OC. Love it here in the Bay Area. I just had my third child and love the Peninsula after living all over. We've lived in Dublin, Oakland, Lafayette and now Peninsula. With a little one I think you would really like San Carlos. Really family oriented, but I don't know your price range it's about $1M there for 3bd/2ba. Could name more places but would need more info. Good luck.
