"apparently you are not aware of the fact that the vast majority of CA's farming is in the HOT Central Valley where it's 90-105 all summer long and in the deserts where it's 105-120 all summer long. And there are workers who spend a good 10-12+ hours out there in the fields. Most of CA is not 72F during summer."

What are you talking about, the only people who do farm work in California are the Mexicans

That other poster was speaking of their children so there's a difference.

Doesn't specifically mention just white, upper middle class kids now does it? Just showing how hard some people work in CA, doesn't matter what race or class they are, too me at least. Aren't the Mexicans in those fields not the child of somebody either?

Man this country is getting so weird. It used to be only the South vs North...2 divisions. Now it seems every state, even California complains of other Americans moving...WITHIN THE STATES.

WTF is going on people? State citizens are not protectionists, Illinois and California are not 2 separate countries.

I know this doesn't apply to d-iron, but I love how the natives on here are claiming not to be smug but then are referring to non-native residents as "transplants" as if they have some sort of disease and don't belong in SF.

... Hmmmmm

Where does it stop folks?

I was born in Long Beach....Now live in the Bay Area, am I a transplant?
Oh I hear Sacramento is tired of the BayArea 'transplants'...
Riverside is overcome with OC transplants...
Pleasanton is sick of San Jose transplants..

Values? You mean living off of your parents money and treating the city like your personal amusement park, and then leaving when you're bored, or when mommy and daddy say it's time to get a real job and cut you off? You mean dressing and acting exactly the same as all your other hipster buddies, and then deluding yourself that you're so unique? Feeling completely entitled to do whatever you want in your brand new home where people have been living for years before you? Those are some values that I hope don't catch on here. Now i'm obviously painting with a giant brush there, but you act as if all these transplants are SF's saviors, and as if SF residents were devoid of any values of their own until this recent influx of yuppies and hipsters.

Tax dollars? I guess you have a point there. Upper class white transplants do have more money to spend then the working class Latinos they're slowly pushing out of the Mission.
That's exactly why I'm leaving here and going to the Mid-west dude because of the "values". SF values are weak man come on Rah. People out here don't even know their neighbors!

It's a typical attitude of natives who quite frankly have not been relatively successful in life. The vast majority of success in California is achieved by transplants and immigrants. All the successful people from silicon valley come from out east or India(California public schools are not capable of producing the nation and the worlds best and brightest anymore.) Resentment and provincialism are quite childish emotions and attitudes. I've seen less parochialism from the podunks in the midwest than I've seen in the "worldly" bay area
