I think SF has more gay women then men. LA, on the other hand, has a HUGE gay male population...much, much larger than SF...I think West Hollywood and surrounding area is as large as the entire city of San Francisco.

for the right guy, yes. SF is a city of mad ambition. the man must feed the ego of those climbing the ladder.
many do not understand the relationship between sex and lust of power.

I agree, I went to college in Tempe (ASU), and when I told people I was from San Francisco, I'd get ALL kinds of questions about if the place was like Soddom & Gamora and if we had Gay parades every day and s*it like that. It was really annoying and really stupid that people ask ignorant questions like that. On top of all that, every gay person I knew in Phoenix wanted to talk to live vicariously through my past life in SF. Yes...we have many many many gay people in San Francisco - some may call us the Gay Capital/Gay Mecca of the United States - so what? It does not mean ALL of us are gay, or bi-sexual or whatever hair brained ideas people have about SF.

This is how ignorant the world is. Two of my friends (a girl and a guy) move here from Phoenix, they are related. But because the woman (36 yrs old) has not settled down into marriage just yet (she has lived here for approximately 6 years), her family in Phoenix are talking about her "turning gay" or the possibility of her "being gay" because she moved out here. How does a place "TURN" you gay? The guy - he's 29 moved out here with his girlfriend, it didn't work out so they broke up and he sent her packin' back to Phoenix. Now his father is also worried & the family is all a buzz about if he is gay and when he tells his dad he is dating someone, his father insists on asking him "you ARE dating a GIRL, right???"

NOTE TO ALL: San Francisco has gay people. San Francisco has straight people. You do not TURN gay by moving here. We do not sprinkle some magic fairy dust on you to turn you gay and thus know every line of every Broadway musical ever performed. Many gay residents of San Francisco are transplants. I have MANY gay friends from high school in San Francisco who moved OUT of San Francisco the first chance they got.

The rest of America...Get a grip on reality.

BTW, I have been employed as a bartender at many of the night clubs and bars here in San Francisco - and there is no shortage of straight people, men or women, and every woman is not ripping her clothes off at first offer from a man. Believe you me...there seem to be more single men on the dating scene (from a bar/club perspective) than women - at least when I worked the circuits.
