I don't understand. How do people afford this third world ovepriced region? don't even get me started on the taxes and the bankrupt state.

The VAST majority of people here do not make even $100,000..or enough to afford to buy. Is everyone a renter for life? Am I destined to live in a ghetto neighborhood? (ghetto by normal American non third-world standards?)

Why should a middle-class live in this dump as opposed to Vegas or Houston or Dallas? Why!!!?

Now we see why everyone is fleeing out of this city. Do normal americans even move to bay area? No. American outflow from the bay area into normal regions of the country is much larger than the inflow. Everyone moving is some poor person from the third world. Now we see why the state is bankrupt. What happened to this city I used to love???

Actually many families do.

San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA CSA
Total Families 1,671,412
Families Earning $100,000+ Annually 782,060

46.7% of all families in the SF Bay Area make more than $100K a year.

The idea is to upgrade-not downgrade.

Use your brain. Please tell me you know wages are adjusted for the Bay Area price of living... $100K a year in the Bay Area is like $50K a year in Houston or Dallas.

LET ME REPRHASE IT: The VAST majority of people in the bay area CAN NOT afford it.

Most people here are considered poor and live in third world conditions compared to normal parts of the country. Compare someone earning 60K in Dallas to 100K in the Bay. The person in Dallas is wealthier and lives a better lifestyle.

If you use your head and add in inflation, people aren't wealthier here than in the other cities, which is why everyone is fleeing and only poor people from the third world are moving in. Look at the rest of the state and what its turning into.

Troll?

Has anyone seen the HUGE amounts of people the Bay Area is losing to other parts of the country?? All the tax dollars fleeing for more people from the third world. Look at the state.

Should you Bay lovers be at least worried? The bay is emptying out to more attractive places in the south...only people from Asia or Mexico/South America move here.

Do Americans move to the Bay Area? No.

In your dreams maybe.

For every "exceptional American" who move to the bay area -who also leaves within 5 years since this place is so transient- 50 poor people from the third world move in.

Professionals are leaving this place in droves. Hardly anyone moves in.

And people in those other cities are not as financially stable as people in the Bay Area.
2007 Nest Egg Index-US Cities with the most savings 2007 Nest Egg Index-Cities with the most savings
In the third annual Nest Egg Index, we ranked the 500 top-performing communities based on their residents' personal savings and investing behavior. By measuring a dozen statistical factors - including participation in retirement savings plans, personal debt levels and home ownership - the Nest Egg Index shows the geographic regions where people are succeeding and facing difficulty with their nest eggs. In this year's results, communities that ranked highly in the Nest Egg Index continue to benefit from strong local housing markets and show a high propensity toward saving and investing in retirement vehicles such as 401(k) or pension plans. And while these communities had higher costs of living than the national average, nineteen out of the top 20 also had lower debt levels.

37% of all foreign born residents in the Bay Area have bachelor's degrees or higher. That's actually an above average rate of educational attainment.
