I've always heard the fog line is around 380, is that correct? What I more specifically would like to know is if the area close to San Bruno Ave WEST of 280 is a foggy area. Anyone know?

San Bruno Ave west of 280 would be one of the foggiest parts of the entire Bay Area. It's more of an east/west thing than a north/south thing. If you're within about five miles of the coast, you get fog.

Thanks for the response. I've lived in the area for 5 years and always thought the fog covered everything South of San Francisco to San Bruno. Never thought it might be an east/west thing from the ocean. It makes sense though.

It's definitely east/west, it's fairly well known that the eastern side of San Francisco gets more sun than the western coast.. if you want a good illustration, on a foggy day start at Hwy 1/Sharp Park in Pacifica. Then head eastbound until it turns into Westborough in South San Francisco, then Chestnut, and take a right on Hillside. By the time you get to 101 it will be a lot less foggy and you may even be in the sunshine!

Where we live in the Santa Cruz Mtn foothills in central San Mateo County it's pretty foggy during the dry season. We are near the San Mateo Fog Gap.
