Hopefully one day the Bay Area will get a Legal Seafoods. It is a popular seafood chain from Boston. They are known for their clam chowder.

This whole thread reminds me of the old Herb Caen column. He once told a story of a visitor who went to the Wharf and stopped off at one of the kiosks to get some chowder. The whole area smelled heavenly. The person was allergic to wheat, and asked what the thickener in the chowder was. The guy behind the counter pulled out can of Campbell's soup to read the ingredients....

Might have been a better strategy to get yourself some clams, clam broth, potatoes, bacon, celery, milk and butter and made some yourself to have with some good SF sourdough and a nice bottle of California White.

Lol man I still quote that episode on the regular.
haha me too, whenever i think of the word "chowder" ...that was a good episode. One of the best parts was when the waiter fell out the window of the high court, and fell ten stories ("high" court, lol) into a rat trap truck.
