What I don't understand is why so many are more than happy to see Chevron leave?

It like NUMMI on a larger scale... Not too long ago, Toyota wanted to modernize and expand on land it owned in Fremont... after being repeatedly turned down... Toyota gave up and is now moving production to Texas... there is more to the Story, like high cost of Power, etc...

Chevron's plans to expand and modernized meet the same the same or more opposition...

No matter what anyone says... manufacturing... producing a product creates jobs that fund local economies...

That would mean even more expensive gasoline and diesel in California.

I wish I never read Ecotopia and never contributed the Ernest Callenbach's wallet and ego way back when. I wish I never brainwashed youngsters' minds into believing in Ecofascism.
