OaklandCity - that is exactly part of the problem. Once you change the mountain name then you need to look at all the different businesses both big and small as well as government agencies, etc that will still have the name Diablo in them. Are they all going to have to change? And that is where a huge expense is. People who think it is easy to just change the name of something don't realize what goes into it and the expense it can incur - which right now is not something any state, city, county agency or any small or large business can afford.

I was going to suggest Mount Pat Robinson, but that may well be even more devil like.

Let's see, the fanatical, fundamentalist, lunatic right has already ended punished the Bay Area they so hate by ending gay marriage, wants to turn Mt. Diablo into some sort of god-like name and with no doubt the Mt. Davidson cross atop. What's next for them? Ship the Giants back to the Polo Grounds.

This is such a waste of time. They won't change the name and all the signs, end of story.

I can't believe someone would actually waste his time trying to pursue this, when he could be volunteering to help the needy. The current name is historically significant. What's next, changing New York to Old York because it's not really new anymore?
Personally, I wish we had kept some of the area cities' original Spanish names like Todos Santos instead of Concord, because they sound so lilting and not as boring, but what's done is done, and long long ago.
