Has anyone done a trip on either coast highway or 101. I grew up in San Francisco and always wanted to travel from SF to Washington; moved awayh 25 yrs ago and will be coming back this summer with about 5 days to travel it. Im not sure if I should do 101? Ive been as north as Eureka. Anyways, I just want to enjoy nature but think the coast highway would be too slow (besides I developed a sense of fear driving near high edges, mountain cliffs) any one know of great cheap hostels or places to stay? unique reasonable places to eat, and must see places along the way? thanks.
