Hi, I will be in the Bay Area for three days next weekend. The problem is I have been to San Francisco twice, and I want to explore somewhere else. Is there any place interesting that is worth going within reasonable driving distance (<3 hours).

I know Yosemite park is not too far, and can be an option, but I am not a fan of national parks. Anywhere else? How is Santa Cruz, or Monterey Bay?

Many thanks!

Santa Cruz is worth a trip, as are Monterey (see the Aquarium!) and Carmel. Also consider:
Muir Woods in Marin County. The giant redwoods are awe-inspiring.
The Oakland Museum
The shops and bookstores on 4th Street in Berkeley
Filoli Gardens in Woodside

Hearst Castle in San Simeon was really cool.

I suggest you visit Sausalito. See Visit Sausalito, CA | Sausalito Chamber of Commerce .
Another option is Napa Valley with its many vineyards and other attractions. See NapaValley.org .

Drive from San Francisco towards Santa Cruz on Hwy 1 along the coast. Very scenic. If you have time, drive further south towards Monterey and Big Sur.

There's also all of the wineries in the Napa Valley. They have wineries in Sonoma County as well, but they're not as good.

Ha!
"not as good"?!?

You mean Sonoma County is not as crowded, tourist trap-ish, tacky, overhyped, hot, or as snobby as Napa County?!

Then okay, yes you're right on there!
