Has anyone noticed that Monkey Forest Road, the coffee/art shop on Grand Ave. has closed its doors for good recently? We were so sad to find out about it.

But guess what is going in there now? A big food marketplace!

"The 3,500 square foot space — the old Monkey Forest Road — will soon be home to various counters, specializing in stations like cheese, charcuterie, pastry, bakery goods, and so on. There’s also a substantial outdoor area, bigger than the indoors, where there will be outlets for wine, beer and coffee (Linea Caffe), as well as heating, seating, and lighting."

Can't wait!

Yeah, for me, this kind of document is more titillating than '50 Shades'. I know what I'll be reading on the plane tomorrow!

Read it just now. Short summary:

Midrise and highrise rental residential easily pencil in for uptown (21st & Telegraph); expect to see more.
Chinatown and 19th St. sites are borderline for rental residential; may pencil in with city incentives.
Office rents are far too low to support new office development; would need to double for new buildings.

This is fine with me. Downtowns already have plenty of offices; they'e catchment areas for huge swaths of suburbs. But the number of places we can build walkable, transit accessible high-density residential is vanishingly small, especially with CA's battle-hardened NIMBYs (when people complain about Google Busses, look what happened with El Goog tried to put apartments in Mountain View; total crash and burn). Anyway, for offices, it's a short BART to SF. They're building tons of offices. Maybe too much

This is fine with me. DTO could still use much more residential. For offices, it's a short BART to SF.
Hey so, Uptown is feasible for rental residential but what about condos?
