That's just silly. The building is great, but the units are not worth that much, and the neighborhood is *meh*, unless you really like the SoMa feel. You can rent a 3 bedroom craftsman house in Grand Lake for not much more.

You pay that price for a ~3 minute walk to BART, pretty much. Transit access is huge for lots of people.

I don't think that's worth a $1500 premium, but whatever floats your boat I guess...

Save a boatload of money by taking a little walk? Sounds like a fair tradeoff. Healthy, even.

I am just amazed at how quickly the prices are rising. Another high rise is probably going in on the next block. IDK if that will stabilize prices??? Probably not b/c developers would have to build many many more high rises before that happens.

Here is the possible next building at Broadway/Grand: http://www.socketsite.com/archives/2...partments.html

People can walk from further away but, let's face it, many people are lazy or lack time... Or, they could have some sort of disability. I don't want to judge too much! So, it stands that proximity to BART commands higher prices. I live 1 mile from 19th st. station. Sometimes I do wish I was closer!

Also, one can bicycle to the 19th St. BART station. There is now a free bike parking! https://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2015/news20150225-0

It also means you can literally stroll on over to the Fox, the Paramount, the New Parkway and all of the bars on Telegraph. Walking to that stuff really could be worth a 1500$ premium, to the right person. BART access is just gravy.

My guess is it's newcomers who've been sold the vision of Uptown as some sort of west coast Williamsburg. It's more like SoMa, which isn't particularly pleasant.

Grand Lake, Rockridge, Piedmont Ave, Temescal are all much nicer places to live, IMO.

Maybe in like ten years Uptown will resemble Portland's Pearl District then I would understand...

I agree. It's not quite THERE yet. It's a million times nicer than what it was before the Fox re-opened, but it's still not a 24/7 neighborhood that can reasonably command such a hefty price tag. Some idiot will pay it though.

This 48 unit addition makes for 1043 units for the Jack London Area. Adding residents and adding density thereby increasing foot traffic along that stretch of broadway is great, but also in the in the greater jack london area.
