90% of all of the infrastructure we've developed assumes everyone has a car. Adding more units without that expectation is not going to upset the balance and give the existing demo more choice. If you want a oarking space, move to any of the other existing places.

I've been living in Oakland for three years now and don't have a car. I work in downtown San Francisco and between taking car pool, AC Transit or BART my transportation needs for getting to and from work are easily met in a timely manner. I easily walk to Uptown, Piedmont Ave., Temescal, Rockridge, Elmwood, Grand Ave./Lakeshore and Lake Merritt. I can walk to several grocery stores such as Trader Joe's, Safeway, Whole Foods, Grocery Outlet and soon there will be a Sprouts. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. When I need a car, which isn't often, I rent one.

This is looking good, especially a hotel downtown. We desperately need more hotel rooms in the central part of the city.

First look: How Strada will bring Uptown Oakland's artsy flair to buttoned-up City Center - San Francisco Business Times

This looks really interesting. Especially in that area of downtown where not a lot is going on. Although there is a really good Brazilian steakhouse adjacent to the project sit.
