I like how an entrance to Bart will be directly below the building

That underground entrance is not new. It's just been closed for the last several years. That area is really happening at night. Upwards of 40% of the patrons are not Oakland residents. That is split btween SF and other east bay communities.

Re-opening the entrance is not to protect people but for convenience. Besides, if someone is that afraid - I doubt they would even ride BART. I think you are reading way too much into this entrance reopening.

To the person that posted the website, thank you. Can't wait for this and the high rise apartment to be built across the street.

That Bart entrance has historically been there- was incorporated into the basement of the building back in the day- before Oakland ever had dangerous streets and Oakland was mostly white people. It was closed down but now they are just fixing it up and putting back to good use.

I am aware it's always been there. I just prefer people walking on the sidewalk instead of an enclosed direct access to a building.

Too bad they didn't go with a more classic, retro look for Uptown Station, something akin to what it used to look like. Doesn't really seem to keep or celebrate anything historical on the facade.
