Id like to see high density housing surround the coliseum and arena, maybe have an 'arena village' type development and instead of that ghastly bridge, make a broad pedestrial boulevard that goes from the BARTstation to the stadium. So many possibilities.

Not too long ago, the Oakland Raiders invested into other possible Football- only stadiums in Oakland.

I'm more excited about that and would very much prefer a new stadium with development in it's vicinity.
Rather than assume the Oakland Raiders will still lease the Coliseum, building developments related to sports around the Coliseum.

Default Pet Food Express aims to help Oakland's economy

Quote:
OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) --Oakland has pet lovers to thank for a nice boost to its economy. That's because a major chain store, Pet Food Express, just moved its corporate headquarters to a massive warehouse space near the Coliseum. There are plenty of reasons to celebrate at the Pet Food Express headquarters grand opening in Oakland. The company is celebrating its move from into huge new digs, the Oakland police are celebrating the donation of 10 new canine bulletproof vests and Oakland city leaders are celebrating a boost to the economy.

The proposed 37-story condo on Alice Street in between 14th and 15th is back on the table. It's hard to take these big downtown residential projects seriously as they usually fall through (e.g. Emerald Towers/Schilling Gardens, etc.)

Construction on the first phase of the MacArthur BART Transit Village will start in early 2011. This project will probably take the Temescal district to another level.
