LOL...seriously you could be right.

The process to get anything done is so ridiculously snail-paced.

Is Oakland getting its very own Bel Air?

I was perusing the major projects pdf from Oakland CEDA and came across a very intriguing project called "Felton Acres".(Btw you can get a look at every major project in Oakland)

http://www2.oaklandnet.com/oakca/gro.../oak025453.pdf

Okay first off the name needs to change cause it sounds hokey.

Otherwise its named after Robert Felton, who owns this contemporary mansion, possibly Oakland's most valuable single family home:

Anyway, Mr. Felton wants to build 25 homes and create 2 new roads adjacent to his house. Its currently in the pre-application phase and I will investigate to find out what the 411 is on this project, but I am inclined at this point to assume that they are going to be luxury residences.

And its no surprise considering the billion-dollar views from up there.

We shall see...

Biz Buzz: Oakland airport sees airline expansions

By staff and wire reports

Oakland International Airport is getting a lot of new airline service. Volaris Airlines announced plans to expand daily nonstop service between Oakland airport andMexico City starting on May 6. Volaris also operates two daily nonstop flights to Guadalajara. Alaska Airlines will begin service to Lihue on the Hawaiian island of Kauai on March 28, making it the fourth nonstop Hawaii destination out of Oakland. Alaska also says it will begin daily service between Oakland and Maui starting on June 5. Earlier this month, Kaiser Air said it had received approval to provide full flight operations for a Boeing 737-700 with a 60-seat configuration for private charters twice a week between Oakland and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.

I didnt even know a building on this spot had gone up

Quote:
[LEFT]Canyon Johnson Urban Funds, a partnership that involves Earvin “Magic” Johnson, wanted to break into the Oakland market for years. The firm finally got a chance when a bank-owned, 88-unit condo project at 630 Thomas Berkeley Way became available.

The investor, which has a $1 billion fund to invest, swooped in beating out several other bidders to snap up the building for $19.7 million — less than half what the original developers, the Bedford Group and Strategic Urban Development Alliance LLC, had put into the construction.
The building features one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from 700 to 1,500 square ft...
