"Oakland is a good fit for AEG's business model," AEG facilities manager Chris Wright said during the media luncheon."

"The city is "prime real estate" in a good market that presents an opportunity -- one that has not been fully exploited, said Wright, who worked for SMG for six years."

Phil An****z, Tim LieWeekly and AEG are evil, lying SOB's. Beware Oakland. San Jose's already been burned by these guys.

Raiders Are Here to Stay!

"Oakland is my preference, though," Davis told The Oakland Tribune on Friday. "I see us as an urban team, being in a city. I want it to work here. I'd like to stay here."

Oakland civic officials recently met with Davis to present a proposal on the Coliseum complex site that would contain three separate facilities, allowing space for the A's and the NBA's Golden State Warriors. The designs for the proposed Coliseum City entertainment center were based on Anschutz Entertainment Group's L.A. Live entertainment district.

Davis said he was "impressed" by the meeting.

AEG is pursuing the O.co Coliseum management contract and has offered $3.5 million in "capital investment," as well as a $1 million signing bonus for "revenue-enhancing projects." The group promised to generate $2.5 million by the end of the five-year contract by bringing in 25 events.

Just saw a notice for a pending permit to serve alcohol in the ground floor space of the Tribune tower. Anyone have any more details regarding this development?

Hey so with the improving housing market and downtown revitalization does anybody think any of the previously stalled or tabled projects downtown will get started soon?

Not yet, but it's a good sign. Can't believe anything 'til AEG signs something in blood.

I read on The DTO Blog that the first phase of the project that is expected to take up the western block of Broadway between 23rd and 24th (next to Broadway Grand) will likely start this year. I think it's mainly speculation from the blogger though - not concrete news. downtown oakland — the DTO

It's too bad that 1100 Broadway hasn't broken ground and the new City Center tower hasn't resumed construction. I remember the 1100 Broadway developer saying they were waiting for the economy to turn around and the commercial real estate market to heat up. Well, the commercial real estate market in SF is scorching and is starting to improve in Oakland. Still, I haven't read any news on that front.

The Cathedral Gardens project on San Pablo Avenue between 21st Street and MLK is set to break ground sometime next month. Other than that, I have not heard anywhere else about the next phase of the Broadway Grand starting up, although that would be welcome news!

Ya i saw the thing on the DTO site that's what prompted me to ask on here. I would love to see them start back up on that city center building cuz that pit they dug is a real eye sore almost as bad as that half finished building on 12th street between broadway and webster. as far as 1100 Broadway, ive never had much faith in anything being built in Oakland until i see floors going up. so in all honesty im not even sure that building will ever get built. The developer will just keep saying the market isnt good enough forever and then eventually just sell the land for twice what he paid for it to another developer who wont build anything. I remember when that plat was supposed to become a Hyatt, never happend, now sks owns the land. so we'll see whats up.
