The Ramen Shop
A star crew is heading up this new noodle venture in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, as Chez Panisse veterans Sam While, Jerry Jaksich and chef Rayneil De Guzman have teamed up to bring homemade Japanese noodles to the sunnier side of the bay.

The 60-seat restaurant is promising to serve only the best, highest-quality Northern California ramen using traditional Japanese techniques. The restaurant said it should be ready to officially open its doors in the first week of January.

Oakland, 5812 College Ave.

I have always felt that Old Oakland was a logical place for a night time hot spot and entertainment area.

I know! District is so busy these days. A friend who lives over there says, now that district is open, there is way more late night foot traffic so it feels safer.

But it is so cute over there, and you can just see the bars/clubs spilling over in to the streets for the perfect pubcrawl!

Yes and it has a different vibe from Uptown.

To see Old Oakland, Uptown and Jack London Square simultaneously vibrant hot spots would be uber awesome.

Can't wait until Dowtown has a couple of night life districts.

Also, over around the Tribune Building and Disco Voltane could be another interesting spot. Just above Chinatown.

Sweet a new vegan (fancy) coffee shop on Piedmont Ave. They've been open for 3 weeks. The coffee is excellent. As for milk? it is almond or soy.
