14th annual Whole Hog Dinner at Oliveto in Oakland - latimes.com
Headed up to the Bay Area next week? If you hurry up and reserve now, you can sit down to the 14th annual Whole Hog Menu at Oakland’s Oliveto restaurant. From Feb. 19-23, the à la carte menu is full of porky goodness. Organized by parts of the pig, the menu is coded CA for cold antipasto, WA for warm antipasto, P for primi and S for secondi, to make ordering easier

That's three additional flights a week to Honolulu during the high season. I will take that. OAK needs whatever it can get. I figure the Oakland to Phoenix daily on US Airways will get axed as soon as the American merger goes through. Also, Allegiant pulled the plug on the OAK to Billings, MT weekly flight.

I'm really surprised by the Cannery Lofts as well, that location is terrible. It backs up to a pretty rough section of West Oakland and there is no BART nearby. Also the Ellington is extremely expensive. I'm assuming these are well to do people coming over from SF looking for more space who bought those up.

Although the Ellington is expensive the features and finishes match up to the price point. And location is good

Pacific cannery? not so much.

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.

Good!

All of the Safeways in Oakland are terrible! The one on Lakeshore drives me absolutely insane. Try buying a pint of ice cream at 9PM and you will know exactly what I'm talking about...

Hopefully that Safeway isn't held up for years like the Claremont/College one. Did anyone go to the planning meeting the other night? I saw something on twitter about people asking about more housing and Safeway saying they weren't opposed, but that's not part of the current plan? Seems like a lot of that size in that location should have housing, given the absurd shortage in Rockridge

Here is the EIR:

The new plan is better than the original one, but I would love a more mixed use plan.

That stretch of Broadway from 49th to College is so horribly underdeveloped. Who sits on all those empty buildings and lots year after year while a few blocks away, houses that are practically falling apart get listed for $600k and sold a few days later for $900k (recent on Lawton). I know Tech kills most retail in its immediate vicinity but that shouldn't really affect housing much.
