Decided to make up a poll for this so I can more accurately gauge people's feelings on this. Choose A, B or C. Thanks!

A) Winter is our rainy season, but we still get sunny days at least half the time. Our weather is among the best in the country.

B) Winter is our rainy season, but we still get sunny days a couple times a week. Our weather is among the best in the country.

C) Winter is our rainy season. You didn't expect much sunshine did you? At least we have mild temps. Our weather is among the best in the country.

Hehe. Thanks, but, that's not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is "Frequency of sunny days in the winter". Not stats on rainfall and temperature. I've been around these boards for a while and know generalities and how people categorize weather. What never seemed to come clear was a good estimate of how much sunshine the area gets during winter. My answer choices were carefully thought out to preempt the kind of responses I figured I'd get. Which choice would you select? A, B, or C? Cheers!

A or B depending on the area. A is San Jose, the peninsula, the east bay. B would be Marin County and eastern San Francisco. C would be western San Francisco.

Interesting. You're referring to the winter, right? Never thought western SF got less sun than eastern SF in WINTER. In spring and summer, that's a no-brainer. But I would not have thought that to be the case in winter.

Yes, I think it is the case. The best season for San Francisco is fall. That's when you get the most sun and the calmest weather.

How likely is it the "rain shadow" effect can lead to sunny or partly sunny conditions in SV while it may be raining or overcast in SF. Again, just speaking of the winter months now, not the marine layer-influenced spring and summer months.

You can easily find stats (probably on that google search i provided) about the average number of sunny days a year in san jose (or anywhere).
A subjective poll seems silly to me but whatever floats your boat.

Again, you've slightly misunderstood what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for number of sunny days per year. I'm interested only in the winter months. Frequency of sunshine is not evenly distributed throughout the year in SJ/SF as it is in some places. Summer will be sunny every day and bump the yearly total up. I'm just trying to gauge how much of a void of sun there will be in winter in a bit more specific terms than what most will say. There are some generalities which I concede will apply based on how I worded the three choices. But, I'll keep hunting around to see if any site has info on sunny days per month during the winter months.

Lot's of sun throughout the year and in the winter sometimes it's cloudy and sometimes it rains.
Is this for a high-school research paper or something or are you a totally over the top "type A personality"?
