Default How Lame is San Jose?

Its not lame if you recognize it for what it is: a 100% work-town and a giant bedroom community for silicon valley. Nothing more than that. I work in high tech with mostly male engineers and lots of single guys I know call it man-Jose :-)

I come from an east-coast old city w a real downtown and city-lights thing - but we don't have that in San Jose. There's nothing downtown except a university and some hotels. Just treat it like one giant 'burb, where most people are here because there's plenty of work and employment for those with 2-years college or higher education. No one that I've met moved here for the sight seeing or the natural beauty; everyone is here for their career (or university) opportunities.

When we want city-lights and a real downtown, we simply drive 1 hour to San Francisco. I spent some time in Chicago, and SF definately has the big city vibe, lots of homeless and diversity, blacks, whites, asians etc - its something like Chicago but without the severe winters.
