Easy question. All over the Peninsula there are trees with rubbery-looking leaves and really large, beautiful white flowers. I never saw this tree before moving to the area. What kind of tree is it?

The OP must not be from the East Coast (at least the part from Providence on down) or South.

But messy. We had one in CA and it was a constant battle cleaning up the giant leaves, and seed pods.

Do they bloom all year round or just the summer months?

BayAreaHillBilly: I lived in Northern VA/DC for five years though I don't recall seeing this tree.

You are referring to the Money Tree that our elected representatives have been searching for quite diligently.

Speaking of trees.... are the cherries on a red ornamental cherry trees edible? They appear to be just like the cherries you would buy in the grocery store. And if they are not, I'm at a loss as to why anyone would buy/plant one, rather than a edible cherry tree.

They found that tree a long time ago, but they don't let the public near it.
