Speaking of Kous-kous / couscous ... I had the pleasure of trying lots of so called "Algerian style" couscous in France. They bring out the couscous on a large plate. Separately they serve a large and deep cast metal pot containing a very brothy version of the stew. You ladle it out onto the couscous. It's sooooo much better than the dry type I have encountered everywhere I've ever tried here in the Bay Area.

Does anyone know if there are any restos here that serve the Algerian style?

Re: International Kabob House

Why don't people post enough info, just assuming that everybody knows where it is? I knew where it was because I've eaten there several times. Enough to know that it's slided from "lebanese" more towards "Greek" (based on the menu items, such as adding Dolmades and Baklava, and dropping the "sweet meats" kabobs).

It is really good, and you can find it in west San Jose at : 2707 Union Ave, San Jose (not too far from highway 17, Bascom Ave, exit at Camden/San Tomàs Exprwy)

menu on their Web site : menu (http://www.kabob-house.com/ikh/menu/index.php - broken link)

And yes, I think it's good (altho not anywhere close to 100% Lebanese)

To me "sketchy" is when someone or something just isn't right, not casual dining. If I'm understanding you then all casual dining in strip malls is sketchy? Or was it something particular about this place? Either way just semantics. As you said the food is really good, and that is what matters. I just thought when you said "sketchy" people might take it to mean somethings wrong and not give it a try.

Ok - semantics - it's not fine dining, and the strip mall is a bit run down looking, and it looks like it needs a good scrub down inside. Oh, and it's not strictly Lebanese food, although they do serve many Lebanese dishes.

BUT, the food is really good! They have just changed ownership and the new owner has applied for a liquor license. So hopefully the new owner doesn't change the menu/prices/portions.
