As someone who bicycles from Newark to Fremont to catch a VTA bus to San Jose, there is almost always a cool wind in the afternoon in at least the western part of Fremont. In fact I can remember only 1 day this summer when there wasn't a wind.

Newark and Fremont (at least the western half) are much cooler than where I live in South San Jose. It is also cooler than downtown San Jose. It is also true when I played softball mostly in city of Santa Clara, that there was also normally a late afternoon wind that really cooled the temperatures.

An option for a lot of people, because areas with good schools are much more expensive than those without, is finding a nice, reasonably priced neighborhood and spending the difference on a private school.

South Fremont, for me. Mission San Jose, Kimber Gomes would be two of the best areas.
