Just hoping someone may have recommendations on how to approach the apartment search in San Jose. I commute 2 hours in and 2 hours out so my time is pretty limited. I am hoping there are other reliable resources other than craigslist that I can check out to find places. Thanks in advance.

I'm just curious ... why are you adverse to craigslist?
There are other internet sites with listings but none that have the volume of craigslist.
Craigslist is today's version of the newspaper classifieds.

Check out padmapper.com. It aggregates results from several sites (including Craigslist) overlaid on google maps, so you can easily see what's available in an area, with lots of options for filtering (price, rooms, sublet/full apartment, etc).

Its the only site I use when I'm apartment hunting.

I'm not at all against Craigslist. I just excluded it because I already check it religiously. Just wondering what other sources are out there so that I can get as much info as possible since I can't just hit the streets and walk around

You can try hotpads.com which is similar to padmapper.com. It however does not use craigslist listings.
